No, we don't pay top talent and directors – we only pay actors and directors. In fact, as an example, the US production industry spends quite a bit of money on actors and directors because actors get paid more than directors. And we're a bit like the British. They don't give a f**cking shit about our characters, we get paid more than them. So it's very disappointing to see actors get paid more.

What was it like working with Christopher Eccleston before he came on set?

We were making a huge effort for the film – we could've done nothing. He came in and said, "I'm not going to make this." And I said, "Well, he's been doing this for years. You know, I was so proud of him, he's so talented."

So I thought I could take all the English stuff and do a better adaptation by working from the screenplay. I didn't want to put a lot of effort into the British film style until then.

How long did it take for the screenplay to be written?

Three days. And three days for the director. The script for the UK version was written in one evening [last Wednesday] so I said, "Hey, come on, write this down right now, and we don't have any ideas. You know, just call up the studio to talk and get some time – we could go back to London and give you a day's notice, let's do a couple of
